Key assumptions

Site visits avoided

You enter how many screen issues would each need someone on site. Outdoorlink’s remote power cycle resolves 70% of these issues, so 70% of the site visits are avoided. The other 30% still need a visit and are not counted.

site visits avoided a year = screens × issues per screen a month × 12 × 70%

service-call savings = site visits avoided × cost per site visit

Cost per site visit

A contractor’s visit is priced at the price you enter. With your own technicians, each visit is one dedicated round trip from base to the screen: 1 hour on site plus the drive at 30 mph, for each technician sent, at their pay plus the country’s employer costs (pay × employer cost factor ÷ 173.33 hours a month), and the round-trip distance at the country’s diesel price (15 mpg) plus the vehicle cost.

cost = technicians × hourly cost × (1 h + drive time) + round trip × (diesel + vehicle cost)

Revenue protected

Each screen carries 8 ad slots at a time and runs 18 hours a day, from 6:00 to 24:00, or 547.5 hours in an average month (18 × 365 ÷ 12 days). An issue that needs a site visit leaves the screen dark for 4 hours; a remote power cycle restores it in 5 minutes. The price you enter is for one slot, sold or not, so only the occupancy rate (the share of slots sold) earns revenue. Only the 70% of issues fixed remotely are counted.

revenue per screen hour = price per ad slot × 8 ÷ 547.5

revenue protected = issues fixed remotely × revenue per screen hour × (4 h − 5 min) × occupancy rate

Uptime

Uptime is the share of a screen’s 6,570 operating hours a year (18 × 365) that it is not dark from these issues. Without remote resets every issue is dark for 4 hours; with them, 70% are dark for 5 minutes and 30% still for 4 hours. The typical 99.5% contract guarantee is shown for context and is not part of any total.

uptime = 1 − dark hours per screen a year ÷ 6,570

Estimates are for planning purposes only and should be confirmed with actual service records and advertising contracts. Typical values are used where you have not entered your own; actual results vary by market, contract terms and equipment.
